The new Leica Store Melbourne is now open (location): "Happy to report the Leica Store Melbourne opened on the weekend and is a really wonderful space. As previously advised it’s a generous space. When entering, if you turn right you encounter a gallery space currently holding a Bruce Gilden exhibition. The space can be enclosed for privacy and reconfigured for use as a studio - Leica Akademie will use it for photoshoots etc. The rest of the store is turned over to the full range of cameras and binoculars, accessories and an extensive range of books. A large bench occupies part of the floor, and there are leather couches, and an espresso machine. The feel of the place is amazing. Very high quality fitout and exceptional attention to detail. It really is an amazing space and full credit to Leica doing it right! The official opening is in a couple of weeks."
I find it amusing when somebody claims "I'm not rumor-mongering" and then make a video called "Leica SL2 Coming in H1 2019?" - the video is based on a Photokina interview with Stephan Schulz from Leica who confirmed that a new SL model should be expected in the next few months:
The previously rumored Leica Q-P camera is now officially announced. Available in matte black exterior, the new model doesn't have the front-facing Leica red dot logo, but it has the classic script engraving on the top plate. The shutter release button and power switch/drive mode selector have been redesigned to be like the those found on the Leica M10 and CL. The Leica Q-P will be on sale beginning today at Leica Stores, Boutiques and Dealers for $4,995 (some stores already have it in stock today):
