We have been advised {that a} minor firmware replace can be launched for the Canon EOS R later this month.
Apparently the firmware replace will right some wi-fi flash compatibility points.
Do not count on any new options, this will certainly be a minor firmware release.
*Update* It seems like the replace has moved to someday in December 2019.
