Insta360 has released the 1.1.0 update, adding a new HDR video capture mode. In addition to this, the ONE X can also integrate directly with Google Maps Street View.
With a free software update (version 1.1.0) available today, the ONE X becomes the first consumer 360 camera to offer built-in HDR video capture.
The new HDR mode captures scenes with high dynamic range, maintaining highlights and shadows without any post-production work required.
From the sample footage, it looks like it does a decent job. Insta360 has not defined how they are doing this in camera so it’s hard to say what conditions this wouldn’t be suitable for. Most of the sample footage shown is of landscape scenes so it’s unseen how it would perform for fast action environments darker scenes for example.
ONE X users can now contribute 360 content to Google Maps Street View with their camera.
Using the new mode, users can shoot 360 videos at their favourite locations and upload directly to Google Maps Street View from the Insta360 ONE X app. Videos will be automatically converted into a series of evenly spaced 360 photo spheres and viewable in Street View.
Other cameras that are Street View verified are listed here.
